How to Dress – A Body Shape Guide

What should you measure?

2. Pear-shaped body type

The main feature of pear-shaped bodies is the wide hips. If you have broad hips with a narrow waist and smaller shoulders, you’re most likely to have a pear-shaped body. It is also called a spoon-shaped or triangle-shaped body type. Fitted and structured tops are the best for your body type. Short jackets that don’t add extra layers around your hips, flared skirts rather than figure-hugging skirts look super good on you.

3. Hourglass body type

As the name suggests, if your topmost and lowest measurements are nearly equal, i.e., if your shoulders and hips are in balance, you’re said to have an hourglass figure. A big bust and narrow, defined waists are also at times attributed to this body type. Outfits that accentuate your curves, like figure-hugging dresses, will make you look stunning.

4. Inverted triangle body type

For bodies with the inverted triangle body type, shoulders are broader than the hips. Since women with this body type often have narrow hips and a wide bust, an inverted triangle is often considered a variation of the hourglass figure. Outfits with V-necks and belted styles will suit you well. Slightly flared rather than skinny pants/jeans look better on you.

5. Rectangle body shape

Do you have a straight build with relatively uniform measurements? If you do, then you’re likely to have a rectangle body shape. The shoulder and hip measurements are almost equal, and the waist isn’t much defined for this body type. Most outfits will look amazing on you.

Plussize shape
