If you’ve never been to get yourself measured, or it’s been a long time since your last bra fitting – don’t panic, you’re not alone!
But the trouble with avoiding getting a bra fitting is that often you end up wearing the wrong size after trying (and failing) to figure it out on your own. Bras are complicated at the best of times, so you’re better off leaving it to the professionals.
Here’s what to expect from a bra fitting, so there’s no hidden surprises when you rock up!
You’ll have to take your top off
If you’re really uncomfortable with this, you could opt for wearing a thin vest top and ask to be measured over this; but it’s much easier and more accurate if someone’s able to measure without your top on.
Often, they’ll ask you to leave your current bra on (so that you’ve got some support), and they’ll only measure your back size and then do trial and error to get your correct cup size.
It might take longer than you expect
They’ll select a few bras that will work well for your shape (with your input of what you’re looking for) and then have you try each one on until you get a perfect fit. Sometimes this can take up to 30 minutes – so make sure you’re prepared and give yourself enough time so that neither of you will be rushing.
You probably won’t be the size you thought you were
A whopping 80% of women are wearing the wrong size bra, so the chances are you’re one of them!
You’ll learn so many new things about your breasts and about bras
Bra fitters have an extensive knowledge when it comes to bras and breasts, and by the time you’re done, you’ll know so much more about a correctly fitting bra than you did when you walked in!
